The Nido (meaning Nest in Italian) was built around the concept of PROTECTION

We are excited to introduce to you the newest member of our Viaggio family: The Primo Viaggio 4-35 Nido, or just “Nido” for short. With the Nido, we are ushering in a new generation of protection for infant car seats. What do we mean by that? Read on to find out just what makes this seat stand out from the rest!

Protection from Impact Forces

1. Base with Load Leg
The Nido includes a Load Leg base that is adjustable up to 10 different positions. The Load Leg includes an Energy Management Foot that crumples during a crash, allowing it to absorb energy away from the baby. If the Load Leg can’t be used, it can easily fold into the base

2. Elongated Anti-Rebound Bar
The anti-rebound bar on the Nido base protects baby by minimizing forces in case of a rear collision.

With the Load Leg and Anti-Rebound Bar, the Primo Viaggio 4-35 Nido can reduce the rotation caused by an accident by over 50%, giving baby the ultimate in protection and security.

Protection from the Elements

The Nido is outfitted with an extendable Pagoda Hood which keeps baby protected from all of the elements. The hood is UPF 50+, which means it blocks harmful ultraviolet rays. It includes a zipper that keeps the hood in extended mode, as well as mesh side netting for ventilation.

Their Own Nest of Comfort

Included with the Primo Viaggio 4-35 Nido is our Dual Stage Cushion System, similar to the system used with our Primo Viaggio 4-35, but modified. The Dual Stage Cushion System works to ensure newborns have the best in their car seat by keeping their head and neck supported and bringing them closer to the harness. The cushions are outfitted with our Fresco Jersey material which is ultra-soft and breathable, keeping them cozy from their very first ride and many, many more.

The Primo Viaggio 4-35 Nido is now available. To find one near you, check out our store locator, or send us an email at onlineassociate@pegperego.com.

Our Favorite Day of 2016—Jackson’s Wish! https://usold.pegperego.com/company/blog/our-favorite-day-of-2016-jacksons-wish

Take a look back at one of our most memorable days of 2016

2016 has been pretty unforgettable, but there is one moment in particular we want to share with all of you.

In April, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to host our friend Jackson, as part of his Wish Day with Make-A-Wish. It was an amazing experience that impacted all who were lucky enough to play a part in it. As our Director of Gator Assembly, Jackson had the chance to help in the creation of his favorite toy, our John Deere Gator.
Fortunately, we were able to document Jackson’s visit and now we would like to share one of our favorite days of 2016 with all of you…

Five Reasons to Check out the Viaggio Flex 120! https://usold.pegperego.com/company/blog/five-reasons-to-check-out-the-viaggio-flex-120

Our new Viaggio Flex 120 is here!

After months of waiting, the Viaggio Flex 120 is here and ready to be introduced to all of YOU. What’s so great about the Flex? See below for five reasons for why you’ll want the Viaggio Flex 120 as your child’s booster seat.

1. 4D Total Adjust Technology

What is 4D Total Adjust Technology, and why is it at the top of our list? The short version: with 4D Total Adjust Technology, the Flex has the complete capability to fully accommodate a child’s growth, allowing for a truly original experience in comfort. The long version: The Flex can adjust in four different locations: 1) the headrest adjusts 5 positions vertically, 2) the upper backrests adjusts three positions vertically, 3) the side wings can expand out three positions, 4) the seat can recline 5 positions.

2. Integrated Rigid LATCH

One of the unique features on the Flex is the Integrated Rigid LATCH. This means, that the rigid LATCH, which connects to the anchors in your vehicle, cane be pushed into the base when not in use, or when an anchor is unavailable. This allows the Flex to be adaptable and well, flexible.

3. It Can FOLD!

Need to transport the Flex or pack it in a cramped space? No problem! A pull tab located behind the booster lets it easily fold – even while attached to the vehicle via rigid LATCH.

4. Comfort Recline

Another cool feature on the Flex is its comfort recline, which can be adjusted with child in the seat. The seat is positioned on a track giving it the ability to recline with ease when the front release is squeezed.

5. Safety, Safety, SAFETY!

Built in to the Viaggio Flex 120 is an aluminum-reinforced backrest that protects against whiplash in the event of a front-end collision and provides additional protection in the event of a rear-end accident. EPS is lined throughout the headrest, side wings and seat in order to absorb energy during a crash.

There are plenty more reasons to check out the Viaggio Flex 120. Find the Flex on our website to learn more!

#ABCKIDS15 Recap (Part 1) https://usold.pegperego.com/company/blog/abckids15-recap-part-1

We are fresh from a wonderful week in Las Vegas for the 2015 ABC Kids Expo and do we have LOTS to share with you! So much that we had to split our recap blog into two parts: New Gear and New Fashion/Accessories. Let’s take a look at what we have coming up in gear…

Double Strollers

Every year it seems we get asked about what’s new in double strollers. This year, we have soooo much to talk about! We’ll start with the Pliko Mini Twin, which is the double version of our classic Pliko Mini stroller. This side-by-side ride is lightweight, has a center handle that allows for maneuverability with just one hand and can be folded quickly and compactly. If you have two little ones and are always on-the-go, this is your stroller. Look for the Pliko Mini Twin online and in stores by mid-November.

Next up is the Book for Two. Our newest addition to the Book family, this double beauty is only 29 inches wide, which makes it one of the most narrow side-by-side strollers on the market. It has the capability to take not just one, but two Primo Viaggio car seats, making it the ultimate travel system. Also, a roomy basket and net storage compartments on both seats will give you plenty of room to store everything you need. The Book for Two will be available online and in stores in December.

One last thing…we made a few interesting updates to the Duette stroller that you will hear about very soon!

Book Cross

The Book Cross is our new all-terrain stroller. It is equipped with three large wheels, a hand-controlled dynamic brake and the quick and easy signature Book fold. Along with being a rugged three-wheel stroller, the Book Cross has a very stylish look and the capability to turn into a travel system WITHOUT the need for adapters. The Book Cross will be in select stores and online in mid-November.

Boosters

One of the most exciting products we introduced at the show was our newest high back booster, the Viaggio Flex. We will have LOTS more information on this new seat in the coming weeks, but here are a few facts: it has rigid LATCH, independent side wings adjustment, no seat handles, and the ability to fold for easy transportation. The Viaggio Flex is due to arrive mid-2016. In the meantime, look for more updates and an even closer look at this exciting new addition.

Also scheduled to arrive mid-2016 is the Viaggio Shuttle. Like the Flex, this backless booster also has rigid LATCH that can tuck into the seat. It also comes with an easy-to-use shoulder harness clip that is always attached to the seat. More information on the Viaggio Shuttle to come…

That’s it for part one of our recap. Be sure to check us out next week when discussing new fashions and accessories.

More Buzz from the ABC Kids Expo! https://usold.pegperego.com/company/blog/more-buzz-from-the-abc-kids-expo

We’ve just returned from the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas, where we unveiled our latest collection. While there was a lot of talk about our brand-new car seat and stroller system — the Primo Viaggio 4-35 and Book Pop Up — there were some other new introductions creating quite a buzz.

Our Tatamia Black “stopped traffic” on the trade-show floor. A brand-new look for us, the Tatamia Black is a trendy take on our beloved multipurpose high chair. Featuring an all-black frame and black seat upholstery (in our chic Licorice), this sleek style definitely makes a statement.

Another front-runner seemed to be our Siesta high chair in new Berry. Loved for its unique newborn-ready recline, the Siesta in Berry offers a new option for fashion-forward little girls.

And both the Tatamia and Siesta high chairs are being updated for 2014 with our innovative Stop & Go system — mar-resistant caster wheels that lock and unlock with the push of a button, allowing for easy maneuverability from room to room. Now the Stop & Go has the option to remain in place in either “Stop” or “Go,” allowing for even easier maneuverability for parents.

Lastly, we gave trade-show goers a sneak peek at our new Booklet stroller. To be introduced in late 2014, the Booklet has the same innovative fold and features as our popular new Book stroller, but with a more compact design and a lighter weight. The Booklet is travel-system compatible with the new Primo Viaggio 4-35 infant car seat through a built-in anchor system, and its chassis has an elegant black matte finish that’s totally new to Peg Perego.

Tell us, what do you think? What new colors and styles have caught your eye?

Help After Hurricane Sandy https://usold.pegperego.com/company/blog/help-after-hurricane-sandy

Our hearts continue to be with everyone affected by Hurricane Sandy. We know we have many Peg Perego families on the East Coast, and we hope all of you are safe and well. This week we wanted to use Ciao, Mondo as a place to share information about a few of the groups organizing relief for the families, and specifically children, in need. If you have more information to add, please do so by leaving a comment below.

Baby Buggy: We plan to make a donation to Baby Buggy. We have long loved Baby Buggy for the work it does year-round getting baby essentials into the hands of families in need. The New York-based nonprofit is reporting that more than 2,100 families in its network are from in the hardest-hit areas of Staten Island and the Rockaways. Pressing needs for those families include diapers, baby formula and portable and mini-cribs. To donate these items, and/or your time or money, visit the Baby Buggy website. They’ve set up a special Hurricane Sandy Relief page from which you can purchase the items needed most, like diapers and formula. There is also an urgent need for warm coats for children. Sizes 0 – 5 are ideal, but they’ll take up to size 14. Coats can be shipped directly to Baby Buggy, 306 W. 37th St., 8th Floor, New York, NY 10018.

K.I.D.S. Inc.: Another New York-based organization, Kids In Distressed Situations, Inc. has mobilized its resources in order to get much-needed items, like new clothing, blankets, shoes, toys and baby products, in the hands of children and families affected by Superstorm Sandy. While K.I.D.S. only accepts brand-new products for donation, you can still help by making a cash donation. Visit their website to learn more, or to donate $10 to K.I.D.S., simply text GIVE 8000 to 80088.

American Red Cross: The American Red Cross is in communities right now providing aid to the thousands of families affected by Hurricane Sandy. Shelters are open in multiple states, and workers have been driving up and down neighborhood streets in Long Island, Manhattan, Staten Island, New Jersey and West Virginia with hot meals, toiletries, blankets and cleanup supplies. To support the Red Cross in its disaster relief, visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. You can also use the “donate” feature on the free Red Cross Apps for mobile devices to support this relief response. Contributions may also be sent to local Red Cross chapters or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.

Looking for even more ways to help? Our friends at Cool Mom Picks have put together a list of more than a dozen ways you can help, many of them local. Check out their list here.

And again, if you have relief information to share, please do so by commenting below.

Car Seat Safety FAQs https://usold.pegperego.com/company/blog/car-seat-safety-faqs

When it comes to car seats, we understand, you want nothing but the very best for your little one.

Last week we marked Child Passenger Safety Week and highlighted the safety of our Viaggio series, which includes the Primo Viaggio SIP 30-30, the Primo Viaggio SIP 5-70 Convertible and the Viaggio HBB 120. All three models exceed the most stringent safety tests in the world and come equipped with today’s top safety features, like Side Impact Protection, energy-absorbing foam and LATCH system connectors.

While we put all the very best safety features in our car seats and put them through rigorous testing, it’s important to remember that no one seat is “best” or “safest.” According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), “the best seat is the one that fits your child’s size, is correctly installed, fits well in your vehicle and is used properly,” which brings us to those common “real life” usage questions that parents so often have. For those, we particularly like these straightforward answers that the AAP shares in their Car Safety Seats: A Guide for Families 2012.

Q: What do I do if my baby slouches down or to the side in his car seat?

A: Blanket rolls may be placed on both sides of the infant and a small diaper or blanket between the crotch strap and the infant. Do not place padding under or behind the infant or use any sort of car seat insert unless it came with the seat or was made by the manufacturer of the seat.

Q: Can I adjust the straps when my baby is wearing thicker clothing, like in the winter?

A: Yes, but make sure the harnesses are still snug. Also remember to tighten the straps again after the thicker clothes are no longer needed. Ideally, dress your baby in thinner layers instead of a bulky coat or snowsuit, and tuck a blanket around your baby over the buckled harness straps if needed.

Q: Are rear-facing convertible seats OK to use for preemies?

A: Premature infants should be tested while still in the hospital to make sure they can ride safely in a reclined position. Babies who need to lie flat during travel should ride in a crash-tested car bed. Very small infants who can ride safely in a reclined position usually fit better in rear-facing-only seats; however, if you need to use a convertible seat, choose one without a tray-shield harness. The shields often are too big and too far from the body to fit correctly and the child’s face could hit the shield in a crash.

Q: What if my baby’s feet touch the back of the vehicle seat [when rear facing]?

A: Your child can bend his legs easily and will be comfortable in a rear-facing seat. Injuries to the legs are rare for children facing the rear.

Q: What if I drive more children than can be buckled safely in the back seat?

A: It’s best to avoid this, especially if your vehicle has air bags in the front seat. All children younger than 13 years should ride in the back seat. If absolutely necessary, a child in a forward-facing car seat with a harness may be the best choice to ride in front. Just be sure the vehicle seat is moved as far back away from the dashboard (and the air bag) as possible.

Q: Should my child ride in a car seat on an airplane?

A: Most infant, convertible and forward-facing seats can be used on airplanes, but booster seats and travel vests cannot. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the AAP recommend that when flying, children should be securely fastened in certified child restraints until 4 years of age, and then should be secured with the airplane seat belts. This will help keep them safe during takeoff and landing or in case of turbulence. Check the label on your car seat or call the car seat manufacturer before you travel to see if your seat is certified for use on an airplane. (Both our Primo Viaggio SIP 30-30 and the Primo Viaggio SIP 5-70 Convertible are approved for in-flight use. For more on this, read Ready for Takeoff? and And We’re Off!)

Q: Is there a difference between high-back and backless boosters?

A: Both types of boosters are designed to raise your child so the seat belts fit properly and both will reduce your child’s risk of injury in a crash. … Many seats that look like high-back boosters are actually combination seats. They come with harnesses that can be used for smaller children and then removed for older children. Backless boosters are usually less expensive and are easier to move from one vehicle to another. Backless boosters can be used safely in vehicles with headrests and high seat backs.

Don’t see your question? Ask us! We’ll do our very best to get you the information you need. If you need help installing your car seat, use the following websites to find a certified CPS technician or child seat fitting station near you — NHTSA, SeatCheck and National Child Passenger Safety Certified Technicians.
